Keeping in mind formal qualities of La Tourette as a precedent, I extract pertinent volumetric & planar parts from the whole. This is done with the intent to study how these elements could be deployed and organized to take on multiple readings, alternative roles & exchangeability in perception. This exercise is succeeded by numerous compositional investigations through the selected elements : By means of intersections, aggregations and physics based piling. These processes were deployed to discover moments of interest through formal qualities of the elements to create different typologies and the spatial effects.
A design software developed in UNITY is used to produce cohesive wholes out of fragments of the existing architecture. These moments of interest led to spatial investigations in : Surface Characteristics, Interstitial Spaces, Mat Like Structures, Idea Of Characters silhouettes and Loose Fit Aggregations .
Through this exercise I create a hybrid Architectural masque through sampling elements from La Tourette.
The physical model shows the connection of the structure to the ground, reminiscent of the topographical experience at La Tourette. The volumes are lifted off the ground, freeing up the ground plane. This makes the ground an accessible public zone, allowing for visual continuity throughout the entirety of the site.
